Airlines capitalize on this trend with "stopover" programs, some even offering free hotels and food. Airlines have jumped on this growing trend with built-in "stopover" programs, which can come with free or discounted hotels, excursions, transportation, and food at the layover destination. The “X-Men: Apocalypse” star, 43, wrote in an Instagram post Wednesday that she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and would not have discovered it if her physician, Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, had not calculated her breast cancer risk score. A breast cancer risk assessment tool uses a statistical model to estimate a woman’s risk of developing breast cancer over the next five years as well as over her lifetime, or up to about age 90, according to the National Cancer Institute. Two models are commonly used as breast cancer risk assessment tools: the Gail Model and the Tyrer-Cuzick Risk Assessment Calculator. An online version of the breast cancer risk assessment tool, using the Gail Model, is available for anyone to take at bcrisktool.cancer.gov. In fact, some women who do not develop breast cancer have higher risk estimates than some women who do develop breast cancer,” according to the National Cancer Institute’s website.

In recent years, AI software that helps radiologists detect problems or diagnose cancer using mammography has been moving into clinical use. This extra review has enormous potential to improve the detection of suspicious breast masses and lead to earlier diagnoses of breast cancer. With RadNet’s AI tool, “it’s as if all patients get the benefit of our very top performer.”But is the tech analysis worth the extra cost to patients? The health system has developed AI models and is testing the technology with mammograms but doesn’t yet offer it to patients, she said. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, “computer-assisted detection” software promised to improve breast cancer detection.

"We'd like to apologize to our customers for the delay to their journeys," Virgin Atlantic told BI in a statement, and confirmed the plane is now back in service following an inspection. While not a safety issue, the recent Virgin Atlantic flight cancellation is not the first problem the airline has faced this year. Goth is for everyone, Tolhurst writes, and it’s not a “phase” one has to outgrow. “My life in Goth served as a kind of communal reverse meditation,” Tolhurst writes. Part of what appealed to Tolhurst in goth, and why he continues to consider himself goth, is its “inclusive philosophy,” he said. (AP) — Lawyers agreed Thursday to a May trial date for a Maryland man facing hate crime charges after authorities said he fatally shot three Latino men and wounded three other people during a parking dispute earlier this year in the state's capital city. He told Administrative Judge Donna Schaeffer that he understood his decision to waive his right to trial in 180 days. Attorneys agreed to begin jury selection for next year's trial on May 31, with the trial expected to run until June 17. The three who were shot to death — 27-year-old Mario Mireles, his 55-year-old father Nicholas Mireles and 25-year-old Christian Segovia — were Latino. Smith surrendered when the police arrived at his house on the night of the shooting.

They Know the Blessing and Curse of Warhol and Basquiat

Using her bare breasts as paintbrushes, Berlin, beginning in the ’70s, made “tit prints,” in which her pigment-laden aureoles produced forms that resemble balloons and angelfish. Even more scandalous are three of the chapbooks in which she kept drawings she cajoled artists into making of their penises. She was making the ‘tit prints’ without thinking of burning her bra. What really matters is what is in the work.”Like Powell, Berlin in many of her Polaroids documented the Warhol entourage. The show concludes with homages to Berlin made by artists today, including Francesco Clemente, Jenna Gribbon and Jane Kaplowitz.

CNN —An especially bad tick season in the United States is probably hitting its peak, and experts are stressing the importance of taking personal precautions to protect against rising cases of tick-borne disease. Cases of the tick-borne disease – which can cause fever, muscle and joint pain and headache, and which can be fatal – grew 25% from 2011 to 2019. A variety of factors are raising the risk for tick-borne disease, experts say. The deer tick is spreading to the north and west, farther into the Northeast and Midwest. Increased awareness of tick-borne disease could also account for some of the rise in Lyme diagnoses, but experts encourage both doctors and patients to pay close attention to their symptoms.

SuperReturn conference gets underway at a time of challenges for private equity. Kim Kardashian joins Harvey Schwartz, Orlando Bravo, and other leaders in speaking at the conference. The uncertainty has made it more difficult for both private equity and venture capital firms to raise money for their funds. Those are bold-faced names in Wall Street's world, but they can't compete with the star power of another conference speaker: Kim Kardashian. It remains to be seen if private equity can keep up.

You also have the option of purchasing live tickets that can be printed directly from your computer or wireless device. WASHINGTON — Swifties, the BeyHive and Cure fans may have a reason to rejoice: Senators on Wednesday are set to introduce a bipartisan bill targeting hidden ticket fees for live events. Dubbed the Transparency in Charges for Key Events Ticketing (TICKET) Act, the measure would require ticketing merchants to disclose upfront full ticket prices, including fees, for concerts, sporting events and other large gatherings. Ticket fees can comprise 21% to as much as 58% of the total cost of tickets, according to a statement from the committee. The bill aims to promote competition "by delivering ticket fee and speculative ticket transparency for the benefit of all consumers," the committee said.
CNN —A new study on breast cancer deaths raises questions around whether Black women should screen at earlier ages. Even though Black women have a 4% lower incidence rate of breast cancer than White women, they have a 40% higher breast cancer death rate. “When the breast cancer mortality rate for Black women in their 40s is 27 deaths per 100,000 person-years, this means 27 out of every 100,000 Black women aged 40-49 in the US die of breast cancer during one year of follow-up. They also wrote that health policy makers should pursue equity, not just equality, when it comes to breast cancer screening as a tool to help reduce breast cancer death rates. Having dense tissue in the breast can make it more difficult for radiologists to identify breast cancer on a mammogram, and women with dense breast tissue have a higher risk of breast cancer.
A Canadian law firm has filed a class-action lawsuit against Ticketmaster on behalf of anyone who bought "Official Platinum" seats. The firm alleges Ticketmaster "intentionally misleads consumers for their own financial gain," the Toronto Star reports. Ticketmaster recently garnered scrutiny from fans, musicians, and the US government. Legal firm LPC Avocat Inc. says a local man purchased two "Official Platinum" seats for the July 14 show in Montreal's Bell Centre for about $790 each. Some Swift fans also hit Ticketmaster with a class action lawsuit over the chaotic rollout that left some Swifties unable to buy tickets.
Ticketmaster is hiring a Director of Social, and the company is asking bravery of the new hire. Posted five days ago on LinkedIn, Ticketmaster is searching for a social media expert to take over its North America marketing leadership team. Months of messy ticket sales led by Ticketmaster have put the massive entertainment sales site under the microscope. The ticketing debacle even prompted a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing titled "That's the Ticket: Promoting Competition and Protecting Consumers in Live Entertainment," where a bipartisan group of senators grilled Joe Berchtold, the president and CFO of Live Nation Entertainment. "For too long, Live Nation and Ticketmaster have wielded monopoly power anticompetitively, harming fans and artists alike."
Tickets were reportedly on sale for as low as $69, but fans say they witnessed prices starting at $200 for upper-level seating. While ticket prices were advertised starting at $69 on Ticketmaster, fans were quick to share videos showing upper-level seats on sale for $200. Other tweets blamed Ticketmaster for the high prices despite Drake's tickets being released on at least one other ticket outlet. "$200+ for nosebleed drake tickets is criminal…. Like Drake and Beyoncé, fans of Taylor Swift have also expressed outrage at difficulty to obtain tickets and high prices to her 2023 Eras tour.
Ticketmaster will refund "unduly high" fees to Cure fans following complaints from Robert Smith. The singer told fans Thursday he was as "sickened" as they were about the additional charges. Smith later tweeted that fans who bought the cheapest tickets would get $10 refunds. Smith tweeted Thursday: "I am as sickened as you all are by today's Ticketmaster 'fees' debacle." The platform will also give an automatic $5 refund per ticket for those who paid more to see any show on the US tour, Smith added.

In the case of many a successful startup founder, that means working a day job before they're ready to strike out and start their own new business. Multiple big-name companies top the list, according to a new report from small-business lending platform OnDeck, which examined large U.S. companies with high rates of former employees launching their own businesses. The top four companies on OnDeck's list all hail from the consulting world, which isn't surprising: Consultants at those companies are often tasked with helping clients hone their management and business strategies. Goldman Sachs leads the way among financial services companies on OnDeck's rankings, with 5.92% of former employees becoming founders. By focusing primarily on large companies, OnDeck's report doesn't provide a comprehensive list.

Robert F. Smith, chairman and CEO at Vista Equity Partners, said investing in businesses and managers that emphasize diversity, equity and inclusion remains vital, especially in a bear market. The billionaire investor, who spoke with CNBC's Frank Holland at the Disruptor 50 Summit, said that venture capital and private equity funding should continue to expand to minority-owned businesses. The recent drop in venture capital funding, due to growing recession fears, has disproportionately hit African American, Latinx business owners and founders, he said. They're seeing some outsized reductions in their funding," Smith said. Some venture capital firms that he said are effectively identifying opportunities include the New Voices Fund.
